History

1971 was a great year with many monumental events. Decimalisation and hot pants were introduced into the UK, Mick Jagger rolled down the aisle with his first bride, two astronauts drove on the moon for the first time, and I formed AJD.

Previously I had worked as a copywriter at an agency on corporate and business-to-business accounts [see Group 4 and Holiday Inns]. A few years after our formation we were asked to present for Holiday Inns. There were only four of us, yet we beat the world famous incumbent agency with hundreds of staff, which just goes to show that size of agency doesn't matter- just the quality of the work. We went on to handle Holiday Inns in the UK and Continental Europe for twelve years.

Over the years we have handled all sorts of accounts and are equally proud of our work for smaller clients as we are for the larger ones. These clients couldn't keep on increasing their annual appropriation, but wanted to increase their market share. Clients whose advertising pound had to work twice as hard as their richer competitors.

The array of accounts presented here should also give you a good indication of the variety of products and services on which we have worked and should remind you of the saying, 'There is no substitute for experience'.
