Thornphone
At
the outset of mobile phones, Thorn briefed AJD on a test campaign,
to see if there was a market for people to be given the opportunity
to hire a phone, buy one, or have a trial period of using one. The
campaign was to run in London and to direct people to Thorn's retail
outlets. We came up with a very big idea.
We wanted to targeted large businesses in London, so we selected
some of the biggest and chose billboards close to the companies.
We then found out the secretary's name of the Managing Director
of each company and directed our poster message to them, with a
giant personalised post-it stuck to the poster.
Well the campaign had them flocking in by the hundreds, but unfortunately
Thorn decided that their outlets, were unsuitable for such an operation.
